1.7 Manage Main Menu Vendor Client Gateway

Module: Vendor/Client Gateway › Step 1: Vendor/Client Gateway Configuration › 1.7 Manage Main Menu Vendor Client Gateway

Note: Each procedure in this guide begins at the Contract Insight homepage, so any section can be followed on its own. Custom fields are configurable, so the exact field list on a contract category record may vary between environments.

1. Overview

The Gateway's own left-hand menu is managed the same way as any internal workspace, from Administration → Navigation Menu. Switching the Workspace selector to Vendor/Client Gateway loads its menu items: Main, Submit New Request, My Dashboard, News, Contracts, Requests, Solicitations, Contacts/Users, Electronic Documents, Purchase Orders, Reports, Help, Log Out, Support Center, Document Library and Manage Items. Each item can be edited, reordered, and limited to the module it belongs to.

2. Key Elements

  • Administration → Navigation Menu → Workspace dropdown → Vendor/Client Gateway switches to the Gateway's menu.
  • Menu items are grouped into cards. Each card shows its module tag: for example, Contracts, Requests, Solicitations and Contacts/Users carry the Gateways_VCC tag, and Electronic Documents carries Modules_DAC.
  • Sub-items such as Search All Public Contracts, My Contracts, Create New Request and My Solicitations sit inside their parent menu group, and can be reordered by dragging their handle.
  • Items pointing at a page that doesn't exist in this application are marked UNAVAILABLE. Use Review them to repoint or hide them.
  • The Workspaces & who sees them tab controls which employees are assigned each workspace's menu.

3. Navigating to the Gateway Menu

  1. From the Contract Insight homepage, click the Administration icon at the bottom of the left navigation menu.
  2. Under Configuration & Fields, click Navigation Menu.

Administration page with Navigation Menu highlighted

  1. On the Menu items tab, set Workspace to Vendor/Client Gateway.
  2. Use Filter items to find an item, tick Start with the menu narrowed to collapse the menu by default, click Add item to add a top-level item, or click Reset to default to restore the standard menu.

Note: Reset to default replaces the workspace's current menu with the standard one. Use it with care.

4. Managing Menu Groups and Sub-items

  1. Each card is a top-level menu group. Its module tag (for example, Gateways_VCC) and sub-item count appear under the name.
  2. Click the pencil icon on a card to edit the group.
  3. Drag a sub-item by its handle to reorder it within the group.
  4. Click Add sub-item at the bottom of a card to add a link inside that group.
  5. Items marked UNAVAILABLE point to a page that doesn't exist in this application; they appear greyed out in the sidebar.

5. Editing a Menu Item

  1. In the Edit menu item panel, update the Label.
  2. Choose the Page it opens, or No page (this is a heading) for a group that expands to show its sub-items.
  3. Set Sits under (top level or a parent group), the Order, and the Icon. Leave the icon on Automatic unless it picks the wrong one.
  4. Tick or clear Visible in the menu, Administrators only and Start collapsed.
  5. Expand Advanced to set Only show when this module is licensed (for example, Gateways_VCC), Require a named permission, and a Tooltip.
  6. Click Save. The trash icon deletes the item.

6. Reviewing Unavailable Items

  1. Click Review them in the warning banner to open Menu review – Vendor/Client Gateway. The summary shows how many items were opened automatically, have a suggestion, have nothing to point at, or are external links.
  2. For each item under Needs a decision, click the suggested Use … button, choose a page from Point somewhere else…, or click Hide.
  3. Click Done when finished.
