Note: Each procedure in this guide begins at the Contract Insight homepage, so any section can be followed on its own. Custom fields are configurable, so the exact field list on a contract category record may vary between environments.

1. Overview

Administration > Security Groups is where permissions are bundled with membership into a single named, reusable group, scoped to a license level. A group's Permissions tab links out to Manage User Permissions to define what the group can do, while its Members tab controls who belongs to it. Additional tabs — Fields, Related records, Reference data, and Dashboards — let a group's access be shaped even more finely: which fields it can see or edit, which related sub-grids show on a record, which reference/lookup data it can use, and which dashboards are available to its members.

2. Key Elements

  • Security Groups (Administration > Security Groups) creates permission groups and assigns their access; each group is described in the tool itself as a way to "create permission groups and assign their access."
  • The Permissions tab on a group links to Manage User Permissions, where permissions can be granted to that specific group so every member inherits them.
  • The Members tab controls group membership directly — who is added to or removed from the group.
  • Fields and Related records tabs let a group's field-level visibility/editability and its visibility into related sub-grids on a record be restricted beyond what a plain permission grant covers.
  • Reference data and Dashboards tabs further scope which lookup/reference lists and which dashboards are available to the group's members.
