Admin User Manual › VISDOM & Risk Management › Obligation Tracking* **Note:** Each procedure in this guide begins at the Contract Insight homepage, so any section can be followed on its own. Custom fields are configurable, so the exact field list on a contract category record may vary between environments. # 1. Overview VISDOM can identify **obligations** in a contract's text and surface them for follow-up. **Obligations** is offered as a standalone extraction in two places: the **Select features** window on **Create with VISDOM**, and **Administration → VISDOM Configuration → Default extractions**, where administrators choose which extractions are ticked the first time someone runs VISDOM. Behind it are two dedicated AI services on the **Models & providers** tab: **Obligation Analysis** ("Identifies obligations and their responsible parties") and **Obligation Tasks** ("Derives actionable tasks from obligations"). VISDOM therefore does not just flag that an obligation exists; it also identifies who is responsible and can turn the obligation into a trackable task. The **Extraction behaviour** tab adds confidence controls for this feature: **Hide obligation suggestions below** a set percentage (not shown at all) and **Flag obligation suggestions below** a higher percentage (shown but marked low confidence). # 2. Key Elements - **Obligations** toggle: available under **On their own** in Default extractions and under **Standalone tools** in the Create with VISDOM **Select features** window. Unlike clause sentiment, high-risk findings, and GSA clauses, it does not require clause extraction. - **Default extractions**: set the starting selection only. After someone runs VISDOM, Create with VISDOM and Edit with VISDOM remember that person's last selection. - **Obligation Analysis** identifies obligations and their responsible parties; **Obligation Tasks** derives actionable follow-up tasks from them. - **Hide obligation suggestions below** and **Flag obligation suggestions below** (percentages on the Extraction behaviour tab) control which obligation suggestions a reviewer sees, and which are marked low confidence. # 3. Navigating to VISDOM Configuration 1. From the Contract Insight homepage, click the **Administration** icon at the bottom of the left navigation bar. 2. In the **Search administration** box, type **visdom**. 3. Under **VISDOM AI**, click the **VISDOM Configuration** tile. ![Administration page filtered to VISDOM with the VISDOM Configuration tile](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-01-admin-visdom-configuration.png) VISDOM Configuration opens on the **Availability** tab. The obligation settings are on the **Default extractions**, **Extraction behaviour**, and **Models & providers** tabs. # 4. Turning On Obligations as a Default Extraction 1. Navigate to VISDOM Configuration (see Section 3). 2. Click the **Default extractions** tab. 3. Under **On their own**, check **Obligations**. 4. Click **Save default extractions**. ![Default extractions tab with the Obligations checkbox](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-02-default-extractions-obligations.png) **Note:** This sets what is ticked the first time each person runs VISDOM on a document. It is a starting point, not a limit. Users can still turn Obligations on or off each time they run VISDOM. # 5. Setting Obligation Confidence Thresholds 1. Navigate to VISDOM Configuration (see Section 3). 2. Click the **Extraction behaviour** tab. 3. In **Hide obligation suggestions below**, enter the percentage below which a suggested obligation type is not shown at all. 4. In **Flag obligation suggestions below**, enter a higher percentage. Suggestions between the two values are shown but marked as low confidence. 5. Click **Save changes** (or **Discard changes** to undo). ![Extraction behaviour tab with the obligation confidence thresholds](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-03-extraction-behaviour-thresholds.png) **Example:** With Hide set to 60 and Flag set to 75, a suggestion at 55% is hidden, one at 70% is shown and flagged as low confidence, and one at 80% is shown normally. # 6. Reviewing the Obligation AI Services 1. Navigate to VISDOM Configuration (see Section 3). 2. Click the **Models & providers** tab. 3. Scroll to **Per-service routing** in the AI Profile Manager. ![Models and providers tab showing the AI Profile Manager](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-04-models-and-providers-tab.png) 1. Locate the **Obligation Analysis** and **Obligation Tasks** rows. Each shows whether the service is **Enabled** and which **Provider**, **Model**, **Fallback provider**, and **Fallback model** it uses. **(inherit)** means the service uses the tier defaults shown above the table. ![Obligation Analysis and Obligation Tasks rows in Per-service routing](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-05-obligation-analysis-and-tasks.png) **Note:** Rows marked **Model chosen by VISDOM Services** are managed by CobbleStone, and the available choices are bounded by your licence tier. # 7. Extracting Obligations from a Document 1. From the Contract Insight homepage, click **+ Add** in the top bar. 2. Select **From a document (VISDOM)**. ![Add menu with From a document (VISDOM)](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-06-add-from-a-document.png) 1. On **Create with VISDOM**, choose the **Record type** and **Type**. 2. Under **VISDOM Tools**, click the **features selected – change…** button. The line below it lists which features will run and which are not running. ![Create with VISDOM page with the VISDOM Tools button](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-07-create-with-visdom.png) 1. In the **Select features** window, under **Standalone tools**, check **Obligations** (Extract deliverables and responsibilities). 2. Click **Done**. 3. Drop the document into the **Document** area (or click **Browse**) and click **Extract & review**. ![Select features window with the Obligations option](https://cdn.document360.io/e3626857-1fb5-4e27-b278-2d3fc5508be4/Images/Documentation/ob-08-select-features-obligations.png) VISDOM shows obligation suggestions that meet the thresholds set in Section 5 for your review. # 8.
