**Note:** Each procedure in this guide begins at the Contract Insight homepage, so any section can be followed on its own. Custom fields are configurable, so the exact field list on a contract category record may vary between environments.

# 1. Overview

Create-**From**-Context **Field Maps** (the modern Field Mapper) define which fields pre-fill automatically when one record is created **from** another — for example a Request converted into a Contract — by mapping a source record's fields onto a compatible-type target field.

# 2. Key Elements

- Administration → **Field Maps**: choose a **FROM** source record area (Contract Requests, Catalog Items, Purchase Request Items, Vendors/Customers, Solicitation Details and more) and a **TO** target area
- Target fields offered are limited **to** those whose data type matches the selected source field
- Application Settings' Contracts category exposes a related toggle, "**Copy Contract Legacy Functionality**," that switches the record Copy button between an exact field-for-field copy and this Field Mapper-driven copy
