**Note:** Each procedure in this guide begins at the Contract Insight homepage, so any section can be followed on its own. Custom fields are configurable, so the exact field list on a contract category record may vary between environments.

# 1. Overview

**Data Import** is the modern, in-application replacement for one-off migration scripts: an administrator builds a reusable CSV import template against any table (built-in or custom), maps file columns to fields, and chooses Insert/update or **Update-only** mode, with 136 templates already saved in this QA environment for tables ranging from tblContracts to custom sub-tables.

# 2. Key Elements

- Administration → **Data Import**: "Add template" targets any table, then "**Map fields**" ties CSV columns to record fields
- Each template records its target table, mode (Insert/update or **Update-only**), creation date and creator, and can be reused for repeat migrations
- Rows carrying a condition field update matching records; other rows insert as new — the same logic a migration script would implement by hand
- An Import history view tracks past runs; a companion Bulk Import Attachments screen handles file-only migrations onto existing records
