# 1. Overview

Once fields are chosen for a list-built ad-hoc report, a **Filter** step limits which rows come back: rows must match a set of conditions, with groups of conditions nestable to mix **ALL** and **ANY** logic — the same **filter** builder used in the full report designer.

# 2. Key Elements

- "Rows must match these conditions. Groups can be nested to mix **ALL** and **ANY**."
- A **filter** can't be built until at least one column has been chosen — "a report filters on the columns it outputs"
- The same conditions can later be exposed as a run-time prompt via "Ask for **filter** values when the report is run"
